Popis: | Belgian Artemisia alba has formerly been reported to be rich in α-thujone, while micropropagation did not lead to essential oil producing plants. In this study, Belgian plants were found to afford mainly isopinocamphone (34%) and camphor (21%), together with smaller amounts of camphene, β-pinene, 1, 8-cineole, myrtenal, myrtenol and T-cadinol, but no α-thujone. An alternative micropropagation method was developed, by which the plants retained their ability to produce an essential oil similar to that of the mother plants. This ability to produce essential oils was found to be media related. The inclusion of vitamins, macrosalts, sugar and hormones of the medium appeared to be of great importance for oil production. |
