An aluminogermanate possessing the zeolite JBW framework topology has been synthesized from a sodium- and rubidium-containing reagent mixture. The material, of composition Na2RbAl3Ge3O12·H2O, has been structurally characterized via single crystal X-ray diffraction, and adopts space group Pmn21 with cell parameters a=15.6241(9), b=8.2586(6), and c=5.2442(6) A. The material possesses a strictly alternating array of framework AlO4 and GeO4 tetrahedra, displaying no evidence of the superlattice observed for the aluminosilicate analogue. Sodium cations reside in the dehydrated six-rings, with rubidium cations and water molecules in the eight-rings. The structural parameters are compared with those derived for other materials possessing JBW topology. |
