The photo quantum yield was measured in polytolane (PT) and PT containing the impurity 2,4,7-trinitrofluorenone (TNF). It was shown that sensitization of PT using an acceptor depends on the presence of a charge transfer complex, containing 4–5 polymer units per acceptor molecule. The complex is formed during the interaction of a TNF molecule with a continuous conjugation unit of the polymer. Maximum photosensitivity is observed when all units of continuous conjugation of the polymer are combined in the complex. The field dependence of quantum yield was observed in PT and in PT-TNF which is due to the two-stage process of generating charge carriers, the process involving the formation of an interacting electron-hole pair and subsequent separation by the Onsager mechanism. |
