The effect of plasma treatment on the luminance efficacy of BaMgAl10O17: Eu2+ (BAM: Eu2+) is investigated. Among argon-based plasmas with hydrogen or oxygen, it is confirmed that the hydrogen addition to argon plasma supremely improves the lifetime of BAM: Eu2+. The photoluminescence (PL) and thermoluminescence (TL) measurements reveal that the electron traps closely concerned with degradation are reduced by the hydrogen plasma. The PL measurements on BaMgAl10O17 strongly suggest that the vacancies and/or defects in BAM crystal are somehow repaired by hydrogen bridge formation. |
