Popis: | Summary A new one-dimensional analysis of penetration and cratering of semi-infinite targets is presented. This analysis is used to predict the profile hole diameters and penetration depths in semi-infinite targets by rod penetrators in the intermediate impact velocity range 1-3 km/s. The results are completely algebraic and require no numerical integration of any of the differential equations involved. The input data to the formulae presented comes from crater volume/kinetic energy relations and yield strengths that are determined from laboratory tests. Correlation with a large number of experiments is given. The results are quite acceptable. |
