Popis:	This paper first examines automobile navigation systems in terms of their success in Europe. It then describes a version of the CARiN navigation system that is appropriate for American highways and driving conditions. It describes the navigation system configuration gives an overview of digital map databases, and discusses the telematics applications that are available in combining CARiN with cellular phone capabilities.
