In this article, the economic dispatch problem of available reserves of fast response to compensate for ramps from renewable sources is formulated. In order to increase the equivalent response rate in mitigating the generation ramps, thermals units operating joint with storage systems are considered. The problem is formulated as a dynamic optimization process, by approximating the generating descent ramp through piece-wise linear representation which can be solved using an evolutionary strategy. Tests were performed with some small systems including a modified IEEE14 version. In order to illustrate the behavior of the proposed procedure, several scenarios are studied and results are included. |
