In this article we analyze how the TCP Vegas protocol can improve its performance by varying its Alpha and Beta parameters when there is traffic with burst errors in scenarios with wireless connections. Moreover, to have a reference of how they affect data transfer in a scenario of this type, a comparative study was carried out under the same conditions with the responses of the TCP Reno, CUBIC and Westwood protocols. Tests were carried out using the NS-2 network simulator, on a simple network that combines wired and wireless means. Burst errors with different amounts of consecutive lost packets were added, typical of wireless links. Selecting throughput and total time of data transmission are used as metrics of comparison. |
