Popis: This chapter explores John’s notion of divine and human persons, underscoring the ecstatic nature of divine life that enables divine persons to make room for one another, to make room for human persons, and for human persons, in turn, to make room for one another in God’s image. Ecstasy entails a journey of personal relationship, transformation, and communion. The chapter addresses this theology of interpersonal ecstasis, what is known as the divine perichoresis that characterises divine and human persons. From John’s writings, particularly his poems, the chapter underscores how this understanding of divine and human ecstasis carries implications for constructing a dynamic and fluid approach to divine and human persons in line with contemporary theological anthropologies, queer theologies, and queer desire. For John, to be human is to be a creature of desire, first and foremost an ansia, an innate desire to love, participate, and unite with God, and in God, to love and unite with human persons. Simply put, John’s teaching on mystical experience reveals the power of love and exalts the union with Jesus, the fusion between divine and human life.
