Popis: | The purpose of this paper is to review the current status of silicon (Si)-containing bone cements. It is known that such cements have been in use for a while because of the tremendous societal needs and the unique role that Si plays in enhancing the effectiveness of the cements. The related discussion covers the composition, hardening mechanism, performances of cements of inorganic phases and inorganic-organic phases. This paper attempts to give a broad overview of Si-containing bone cements with significant features. The progress in the field is addressed while providing thoughts for future development of Si-containing bone cements. |
