Rapid Outdoor Quantification of Degradation for c-Si Photovoltaic Modules

Popis: | 24th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference, 21-25 September 2009, Hamburg, Germany; 3290-3293 This paper reports the measured degradation rates of seven kinds of state-of-the-art mc-Si and pc-Si PV modules over an approximately 2-year period. In an experiment performed at Sede Boqer in the Negev Desert, the modules, each connected to a resistive load, were placed on a fixed open-rack mount and exposed to the elements. Approximately twice a year, on cloudless days, the modules were disconnected from their loads, cleaned, and their I-V curves measured at noontime. This paper discusses the time-dependence of the results. The precision of the measurements was sufficiently high to enable the quantification of module degradation rates of less than 1 % per year within the time span of the present project. |
