P-95: Temperature Effects and Mechanical Properties of Ordered Reactive Mesogens for Passive Optical Film Applications

Popis: Photopolymerized reactive mesogens are commercially used in LCD compensation film applications and are currently under development for a number of other passive optical elements for LCDs. We have fabricated reactive mesogen films and present an opto-mechanical study of their properties under strain for various temperatures. The modulus as a function of temperature is studied for two liquid crystal alignments (parallel and perpendicular director alignments). This fundamental study provides valuable insight into the optical and mechanical performance of mesogen films for display applications.
