Popis: The characteristic response of the marine environment to intense wind forcing is considered using a numerical coupled sea–atmosphere model. It is shown that the model reproduces cold sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies developing in the eastern part of the Black Sea on November 6–8, 2011, which were recorded in satellite data. The role of various mechanisms in the formation of these anomalies is quantitatively assessed and it is shown that the main factor that caused a sharp decrease in SST is wind mixing. The influence of the cold anomaly on the current velocity fields near the Caucasian coast is considered (in particular, the appearance of a cyclonic eddy in the sea and an increase in the velocity of the Black Sea Rim Current).
