Popis: Rebar cages are used in construction, particularly for creating reinforced concrete structures: bridges, house frameworks, dams, etc. They contain bars of different diameters and lengths, which are cut from long steel rods. Knowing the required number of bars (production demand), one can plan to prepare different combinations of rods with a certain diameter, but each combination may generate different amount of waste. To do that, we suggest using the algorithm developed by the authors, which generates the most cost-effective cutting options based on the data concerning the required number of bars. The algorithm was implemented using a developed VBA-macro in Microsoft Excel.
