Popis: For optimization and control of the grinding process it is necessary to monitor the process state and the wear state of the grinding wheel. In a European project for this purpose AE was measured during the process and analyzed in a frequency range up to 3.5 MHz. Single grain experiments showed different wear phenomena to be readily distinguishable by their individual AE signature at these frequencies. The high grain contact frequency of a real process, however, produces strongly overlapping AE signals. A strategy was developed to separate and describe several different AE sources. Their correlation to physical events is the object of further research.
