Popis: The chapter presents the Romanian cuisine, including a selection of traditional food products, with references to the regional specifics and the historical influences that neighboring countries had. Food habits are discussed from ancient times to the present day, in an attempt to reveal the current nutritional status of Romanians. Food sustainability in Romania is also addressed. The principles promoted by authorities for attesting a traditional food product or other types of Romanian products are mentioned. Some famous products are described. Since traditional Romanian food products are an important aspect of national identity, the actions taken to support them are reviewed.
