Popis: The formation of dihydropyrimidines (IV) and (VII) from dicarbonyl compounds, aromatic aldehydes, and thiourea derivatives occurs with significant enhancement with regard to reaction rates, reaction time, and yield by using molecular iodine as the catalyst.
