Popis: | Several bacterial strains capable of utilizing piperonylate (PPA) as the sole source of carbon and energy were isolated from soil by enrichment culture technique. Three of these strains, PP‐1, PP‐2, and PP‐4, grew at a faster rate on PPA. Strains PP‐1 and PP‐2 were assigned to the genus Pseudomonas. Optimum conditions for their growth and oxidation of piperonylate were determined. Pseudomonas PP‐2 was selected as the organism for further studies on PPA‐degradation. |
