Popis: Two-photon coincidence interferometry has recently been the subject of growing experimental and theoretical interest.1–7 From an experimental point of view, the visibility of the second-order interference is an important issue in such interferometers. For example, if the violation of a Bell inequality is tested in a given setup, then the visibility of the interference as predicted by quantum mechanics has to be high enough to contradict the existence of hidden variables. In the present article, we show that the entanglement present in spontaneous cascade radiation emitted by an excited three-level atom potentially enhances the visibility of second-order interference in comparison to the level produced by radiation from other sources.
