Popis: This chapter presents a fresh perspective on youth apprenticeships by outlining a proposed vocational placement program based on assessing students to discover their career interests before placing them in vocational settings. The expectation is that, by engaging youth in vocational training that is specifically based on what they enjoy, what they do often and what they can potentially excel in, they are being provided with more favorable opportunities to succeed. Though proactive vocational placement (PVP) is in its embryonic stage, and has not been formally implemented, the chapter covers the proposed steps for implementation as well as a few success stories where strengths-based vocational placement has helped young people to thrive in community organizations and schools in the Bahamas.
