Fabrication of Au/MgO/Ba1-xKxBiO3 Tunnel-Type Junctions Using the PMQ-Processed Ba1-xKxBiO3 Substrate

Popis: Au/MgO/Ba1-xKxBiO3 tunnel-type junctions have been fabricated for the first time using PMQ- processed Ba1-xKxBiO3 substrate and MgO artificial barriers. High density, homogeneous Ba1-xKxBiO3 superconductors with a Tce of 28.5 K were successfully synthesized by the plasma-arc melting and rapid-quenching (PMQ) method. The highest relative density was 97% of the theoretical density. The dI/dV-V characteristics of Au/MgO/Ba1-xKxBiO3 junctions were qualitatively close to the BCS density of states. A gap energy Δ of 2.7 meV was obtained. The coefficient of tunneling resistance at zero bias to the tunnel resistance at V>Δe was 11, which indicates that quasi-particle tunneling occurred with low leakage.
