Popis: | The purpose of this article is to report modifications that made environmentally more friendly operations of purchasing, supply and use of adhesives in the footwear industry. This process was called greening. The research method was the case study. The changes were implemented in the conditions of use and application of adhesives, involving a focal and supplier company in the footwear industry. It was observed that the main motivators for greening industrial operations were social and legal pressures from consumers and supervisory official organisms and the possibility of competitive advantage by reducing costs in industrial operations. Significant economic, social and environmental gains were observed. The main gains were: reduction of 85% of the people exposed to the product, with high potential chemical dependency generator; reduction in the use of approximately 3,700 cans per year; and reduction in the emission of solvents volatilized into the air at approximately 5,200 kilograms per month. |
