Popis: | A proof of concept 3D printed planar inverted F antenna (PIFA) using Aerosol Jet Additive Manufacturing technology is presented. The cellphone handset PIFA presented in [1] for the 800 and 1900 MHz bands is scaled to 36.5 and 74.5 GHz. The simulated results yield return losses of 17.8 and 20.4 dB at 36.5 and 74.5 GHz, respectively. The maximum theta-pol realized gain is 2 dBi at both frequencies, and the maximum phi-pol realized gain is 2 dBi and 0 dBi at 36.5 and 76.5 GHz, respectively. The challenges include characterization of the printed materials at Ka- and W-band, metallizing a 5.6:1 aspect ratio via, and printing of the vertical short on the side of the dielectric. |
