The invertebrate macrofauna of the Upper Eocene succession at Beni-Suef-Zaafarana Road, north Eastern Desert of Egypt, has been collected for systematic and paleobiogeographical studies from Beni-Suef and Maadi formations. The successions revealed abundant macrofaunal groups with 97 species. Among these species’ groups, 57 gastropods species belonging to 26 families, followed by 27 bivalve species belonging to 12 families, 3 cephalopod species with 2 families, one scaphopod species and only one echinoid species were identified. Eight coral species are recorded and studied here for the first time from the Eocene rocks of Egypt. The paleobiogeographic distribution of the studied cephalopod species and the coral groups are presented and discussed in this work. |
