Popis: 2 no. machine-excavated trial trenches followed by hand-cleaning of sections and surfaces; followed by recording Two archaeological evaluation trenches (c. 9.6 sq. m) were excavated within a medieval moated enclosure in the garden of an early 19th century Grade II listed farmhouse, There were no features of archaeological significance. Below the topsoil across the site was a layer of post-medieval soil which lay directly above the geological horizon. A few fragments of post-medieval fired clay roof tiles and clay tobacco pipes were present. The absence of earlier layers or features was considered likely to have been the result of late 19th century landscape works. The results showed that it was unlikely that any significant archaeological features or deposits would be impacted by the proposed development.
