Popis: | Introduction: Infectious diseases have been a scourge to humanity throughout its history. Causing mass epidemics over the past millennia, they have been a major cause of disability and death. The main ways to deal with infectious diseases are compliance with sanitary measures and immunizations. Among the greatest achievements of medicine is the ability to prevent infectious diseases by introducing mass vaccination of the population. Aim: The aim of this article is to present the evolution of active immunoprophylaxis from the past to the present and to remind the public of its benefits. Materials and Methods: Analysis of literature sources from recent years has been conducted. Results: From Jenner and Pasteur to biotechnological vaccines, every step in the development and production of vaccines is more confident and aimed at increasing their effectiveness and safety. |
