Popis:	Using firm-level data collected through a mail survey conducted among locally owned suppliers, this study concentrates on knowledge acquisition by locally owned suppliers from foreign subsidiaries in the Polish automotive industry, through vertical linkages. The type and extent of knowledge acquisition by suppliers are analyzed. Additionally, the impact of knowledge acquisition on local firms' capabilities and potential for new knowledge creation is discussed. The most important outcome resides in the extent to which such knowledge acquisition does indeed lead to enhanced capability for the local firm and whether the firm can, in turn, utilize such knowledge to generate new knowledge.
