Popis: Sweet violet (Viola odorata L.) blooms in early spring in the continental climate conditions. It is often collected from its natural habitat which is thus devastated. In decorative horticulture it is used for cutting and planting in gardens. The survey aims to determine the impact of a substrate, fertilization and their interaction on morphometric traits of plants. The research was conducted on commercial substrates based on peat and the soil from natural habitat and four fertilizing treatments. The result shows that the plants in the soil from violet habitats had higher resistance and fewer oscillations in morphometric characteristics (height diameter and num ber of leaves) throughout the vegetation period compared to conventional substrates based on peat. On commercial substrates plants had a high number of flowers, uniform colour of leaves and flowers, making them good for commercial cultivation. It was found that the height, diameter and the number of leaves were bigger when applyinf higher doses of fertilizer. The purpose of the study was to find the best substrate, the optimal doses of fertilizer and the time of fertilizing so that once wild growing populations in natural habitats become interesting in the commercial sense.
