Popis: The Ulvophyceae K. R. Mattox & K. D. Stewart is one of the main classes of green algae, comprising about 1700 species according to AlgaeBase (Guiry 2012, Guiry & Guiry 2017). Most of this diversity is found in marine coastal waters, while a smaller number of species occurs in brackish, freshwater, and terrestrial habitats. The Ulvophyceae are best known for their macroscopic species (Brodie et al. 2007), but a large, less notable diversity comprise of microscopic species, which are found in marine, as well as in freshwater and terrestrial habitats.
