In this paper we will present a model that is used to calculate the performance of colored modules. Especially in building integrated photovoltaic systems, the use of colored modules continues to increase for aesthetic reasons. The manufacturers often offer a standard product portfolio as well as client specific colors and prints. The effect of the color or print on the performance is in most cases determined by making a sample and measuring the performance or by estimating the performance based on experience. Here we present a model that calculates the effect of the print on the current density of the cells. With this, the overall module performance can be determined. The model parameters are determined by fitting the model to measurements on single cell laminates with a monochromatic color. Next the model is validated using the print files and measured data of full color prints and interconnected cells. The results show that a very good match is obtained between the model and the measurements.
