The effect of pressure on the maximum combustion temperature and the equilibrium composition of products in Ca-ZrO2-B2O3-Ca(IO3)2 mixtures is studied using thermodynamic simulation methods. The main products formed in the calciothermal process are found to be CaO, ZrB2, Zr; CaZrO3 and calcium iodides are present in a smaller amount. An increase in pressure leads to an increase in the combustion temperature and more complete reduction. The pressure range in which the full reduction of calcium oxides is possible depends on the thermality of the starting mixtures. |
