Synthesis and characterization of magnesium oxide nanoparticles using combustion method to study the fuel properties

Popis: The main objective of this paper is to synthesize the energetic nanoparticles and blend with base fuel to study the fuel properties. Magnesium Oxide (MgO) is synthesized using combustion method EDTA as fuel and Magnesium Nitrate (Mg(NO3)2) as precursor. The obtained MgO nanoparticles have been subjected to various analytical techniques for characterization. The XRD pattern confirms the crystal structure of MgO which is composed of cubic phase of periclase. The MgO nanoparticles are blended with diesel fuel as base fuel by using ultra sonication method. The blended diesel fuel was used to study the fuel properties such as flash point, fire point and viscosity. It was found that the fuel properties have improved significantly compared to the base diesel fuel.
