We discuss here a few types of eclipsing systems of particular interest. When more is known about the evolution of close binaries, these will probably be found to be in interesting stages of development, but in our present incomplete knowledge we think it better to summarize the observational data, together with the chief theoretical interpretations to date. All systems discussed are ones in which light changes are present not caused by eclipses or by other effects (ellipticity, re-radiation, limb darkening, etc.) covered by conventional eclipsing-star theory. |
