Popis: | Society and the Sacred by Langdon Gilkey gathers the author's lectures from recent years. The subject matter is Christian theology of culture. The title somewhat misleadingly invites the reader to an exploration of "society and the sacred," but the author is primarily concerned with an apologetic for the Christian faith in a period of cultural crisis. The original audience is academic, but the materials have broad significance for a literate public. Professional academics are often clearer and more direct in such public addresses, and this volume is no exception. In these lectures Langdon Gilkey states his case clearly and persuasively.
