Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising candidates for a variety of applications, owing to their unique physicochemical properties. Their stability and range of applications can further be improved by forming their composites with different materials, especially carbon-based materials. The integration of MOFs with carbon-based materials is expected not only to enhance the stability and electrical conductivity of the single-phase MOFs, but also develop newer functionalities in the MOFs due to the synergistic effect between the carbon-based materials and MOFs. These enhanced properties of the resultant composites allow them to be used for applications which are difficult to realize with single-phase MOFs. This chapter deals with the various synthetic methods for the fabrication of MOF/carbon materials, specifically MOF-graphene oxide (MOF/GO) and MOF-carbon nanotube (MOF/CNT) nanocomposites. |
