Sandstone injectite reservoirs have been found in recent years to be a significant source of reserves in the North Sea. However, the fields in which these reservoirs exist were often found relatively late in the exploration history of the basin and all too often by serendipity in the search for deeper reservoir objectives. The reason for this lies in the difficulty in seismically imaging this type of reservoir. In this paper we describe how seismic data from point-receiver seismic acquisition and the resulting pre-stack inversion of the data, were used in an attempt to predict the lithology, and visualize the morphology of a complex sandstone injectite reservoir in a North Sea oil field. |
