Popis: The systolic time intervals (STI) have great potential for patient monitoring and for the assessment of the profound cardiovascular changes so frequently encountered in the operating room. These evaluations of the patient’s condition would be easier to interpret with a knowledge of the influence of potent inhalation anesthetic agents on the STI. However, no cardiovascular investigation until now has included comprehensive, awake, control data for a study performed in healthy subjects of uniform age in the absence of modifying factors such as premedication, surgical stress, other anesthetic or adjuvant drugs, as well as variations in blood volume, arterial carbon dioxide tension, end-tidal anesthetic concentration, or body temperature. Nor has the influence of the duration of anesthesia been well documented.
