Research on a unified theory for modeling biological, physicochemical, and ecological systems is discussed. Unity exists in common categories of processes and their attributes and common features of system structure. Currently, the theory addresses populational and physiological aspects of biosystems and ecosystems. The unified theory of physical systems was the starting point for the research. This conceptual frame was applied to chemical systems and to populations of biological organisms. Initial applications include plant physiology and insect population dynamics. |
