Popis: Photocatalysts are the class of chemical compounds that have the ability to disintegrate or breakdown the materials with the aid of light. It primarily works on the absorption of light, leading to electron-hole recombination thereby causing change in the bandgap and degradation of chemical compounds. Several factors such as pH, loading capacity, porosity, particle size, and functional groups determine the application of the photocatalyst. Recent studies have been focused on developing mesoporous-based photocatalyst for the effective degradation process. The major advantage of utilizing mesoporous particles is to enhance functionality and higher loading capacity of a catalytic agent. This chapter briefly discusses the different type of photocatalytic agents and its diversified applications.
