Popis: 1. The method of constructing dams by directed blasting is promising in the construction of high and superhigh dams, not only because it reduces construction time and labor costs but also in the case of massive blasts one obtains optimal mixtures of the large-sized rocks which by compaction by the powerful dynamic action of the drop can produce denser and less deformable dams than in the case of construction by the usual methods. 2. The percolating and piping properties and the nonuniformity of the material in dams constructed by blasting for all practical purposes do not differ from dams filled layerwise. To create a dam which is uniform with respect to percolating properties by the blasting method, it is necessary to use special measures for additional crushing of individual zones or plugging of the dam material. 3. For a substantiated design of large dams constructed by blasting, we need further detailed investigations of the processes occurring during blasting and dropping of large masses of rock. The height of experimental dams should be at least 20–30 meters.
