Popis: An unsolved problem in producing sheet glass has been surface quality, i.e., glass without optical distortions. The main component in the optical distortions in glass (waviness) is closely related to thickness variations, which are due mainly to thermal inhomogeneity and uneven cooling. Those factors begin to make themselves felt only in the forming stage, so a fuller elucidation gives interest to the motion mechanisms for the elementary volumes or layers during the forming and possible differences in behavior in the surface and inner layers.
