Popis: | This is a pilot study to develop an internet-based intervention (IBI) of imagery rescripting (IR). The purpose of this study is threefold: (a) to develop a clear, transdiagnostic, step-by-step version of IR via face-to-face interviews. The version that will be developed will serve as the basis for an internet-based intervention; (b) optimizing IR by investigating one source of variability in IR. Specifically, to examine under which conditions the utilization of a self vs. other as a strategy agent in the rescripting phase would lead to better outcomes; (c) conduct a preliminary exploration of proposed mechanisms underlying IR. The study will include 40 analog anxious participants who will be randomly assigned to one of two strategy agent conditions: self or other, with stratification according to attachment styles. In the 'self' condition, participants will be instructed to imagine themselves intervening within the retrieved negative memory; whereas in the 'other' condition participants will be instructed to imagine a trusted other that will intervene within the retrieved memory. Efficacy of the treatment will be measured by self-report of anxiety symptoms, before and after intervention. |
