Popis:	Deticated to Gerry Ladas on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday. We give a eneral reduction method for the study of the bifurcation peridoic points from a fixed point of a symplectic diffeomorphism. For each fixedperiod q the recutcion leads to a problem similar to the original one. but ona smaller space and having an additionak -symmetry. In the generic case this -symmetry combined with the sympletic structure allows us to obtain in a simple way the classical bifurcation results of Meyer (1970).
