Popis:	2,3-Dibromo-2′-hydroxy-3-(2-thienyl)propiophenones, with base, gave mixtures of the corresponding chromone and coumaranone and were readily converted into their 3-alkoxyl derivatives. Chromones were obtained by pyrolysing the dibromides and coumaranones by treatment of the 3-alkoxyl derivatives with aqueous ethanolic alkali.
