Popis: Norin 10 semidwarfing genes increase the photosynthetic rates per unit leaf area or leaf weight of semidwarf (SD) wheat plants by concentrating the photosynthetic machinery in relatively small leaves compared to tall lines. Even larger differences in leaf conductance between the SD and Tall isolines result in higher ratios of leaf intercellular CO2/ambient CO2 and greater discrimination against 13 CO2 in the SD isoline under adequate nitrogen fertilization, results that suggest greater water use efficiency for Tall lines
