Popis: | 27th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 4547-4552 This paper demonstrates how integrating photovoltaic generation and storage facilities to Saudi Arabian electricity grid can help prevent foreseen outage and help sustain system stability by computing real-time simulation on estimated dates in 2015. A model, which consists of baseload generation, operational reserves, PV generation, battery storage and hypothetical load profile in Al-Riyadh administrative unit in 2015 is produced to monitor power flow in the grid. A feedback method based on state of charging of battery is applied to avoid overcharging/over-discharging. Simulation result proposes that by introducing 425MWp of PV generation as equivalent substitution of traditional generation, the summer load peak can be met without violating total estimated generation capacity for taking advantage of PV’s high capacity credit. Be generation scheduling well made without significant error and battery storage introduced, the wasted energy due to over-generation for maintaining system stability can be greatly reduced, so that energy efficiency is improved. |
