Popis: In this regard, the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant is improving existing and developing new designs of glands for the electrode ports. An ejection chamber (Fig. i) is installed in the gasdynamic sealing unit of one design. Its inside part is constructed in the form of a nozzle. Gas (air, nitrogen, natural gas, etc.) leaving the chamber under pressure ejects air from the port area and prevents the escape of furnace gases. By supplying natural gas to the chamber, conditions are created for intensifying the furnace process by combustion of the natural gas in an atmosphere composed of the ejected air in the furnace chamber.
