Popis: | A “live” plastic scintillator converter has been added to our compact, neutron detector system. The latter employs a large-area, proton telescope, consisting of multiwire chambers, ΔE and E detectors to measure the energy and angle of recoil protons. The “live” converter provides an increase in count rate by a factor of 6 as well as some improvement in neutron energy resolution. Neutron scattering data for a 65 MeV neutron beam at CNL and for neutron energies from 60 to 240 MeV at LAMPF have been taken with this type of system. |
