Many criminologists around the world consider Professor Gerhard O. W. Mueller the “father” of international/comparative criminal justice. His work as one of the first chiefs of the UN Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Branch, and his scholarly research in various aspects of the globalization of crime and criminal justice, especially comparative criminal law, international criminal law, and maritime criminology, have made him among the pioneers in the fields of law, criminology, and criminal justice.
