Compounds of the type Os(CO)4X2 and Os(CO)2X2L2 (where X is a halogen and L a ligand such as triphenylphosphine) show carbonyl stretching frequencies which are solvent-dependent. The varying effect of the solvent on the specific vibrational modes is discussed in terms of the structure of the molecule and the nature of the ligands. |
